Winston-Salem Spotlight: Black Mountain Chocolate

Over the weekend we stopped by this quaint and comfortable chocolate factory on Trade Street for a quick snack to satisfy the starving toddlers. As a new independent company, we believe it is very important to support local enterprise and not to mention, we adore chocolate. So here is our first of many Winston Salem spotlights on locally owned businesses in Winston Salem and the Triad areas.

If you haven’t visited Black Mountain Chocolate, you’re missing out.

Situated in the heart of the Downtown Arts District at the newly renovated Big Winston Tobacco Warehouse, BMC hosts a visible chocolate factory where patrons can explore the chocolate making process, from bean to bar. Here you’ll learn all about the precise steps of roasting, grinding, shaking, and tempering which ultimately yield the exquisite chocolate that you and I love! You can even make reservations for a guided tour or exclusive dessert tasting experience – check out their website for more information on tickets and pricing!

Now on to the good stuff: their delightful menu of sweet treats.

Black Mountain Chocolate features an assortment of delectable desserts from rich truffles and fluffy pastries, to melt-in-your-mouth cookies and fresh baked brownies. If you swing by on a weekend, be sure to try their house-made pimiento cheese in a flaky croissant – you won’t be disappointed! They also specialize in exquisite macaron cookies that feature incredible flavors like banana pudding or wildflower honey. Be sure to try seasonal favorites like blueberries’n’cream or sweet potato pie.

Nibble on a few free samples of their signature chocolate bars, taste their exclusive drinking chocolate, and explore an assortment of gifts and packaged goods like cocoa nib granola or their signature chocolate peanut butter. You can even buy online!20150704_105814
